A lawmaker incited the SBU against believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Volyn who were defending their church from being seized by supporters of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine

Member of the Ukrainian Parliament from the "Eurosolidarity" party Mykola Knyazhitsky demanded that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) intervene on behalf of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Vetly, Volyn Oblast, who are defending the local St. Nicholas Church from raider attacks by supporters of the OCU. The MP believes that attempts at legal self-defense constitute "targeted subversive activity in the context of a full-scale war."

According to Knyazhitsky, the rector of the St. Nicholas Church of the UOC in the village of Vetly allegedly repeatedly denied access to the church for the funeral services of soldiers killed at the front, citing “hostile attitudes toward their families” as the reason.

In this regard, the deputy insists on the need for immediate intervention by the Security Service of Ukraine “to ensure public safety and protect the honor of Ukrainian soldiers in the border region.”

As a reminder, we previously reported that in the village of Vetly in the Volyn region, an attempt by supporters of the OCU to occupy the St. Nicholas Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was unsuccessful. The church’s rector categorically refused to hand over the keys to the building, despite the arrival of representatives from the executive service.
