Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) has been temporarily transferred from Brazil to Russia

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has issued a decree stating that Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev), who is currently retired, will temporarily relocate his residence and ministry from Brazil to the Russian Federation.
According to , the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church, the decision was made in response to a personal request from the metropolitan. His Eminence Hilarion appealed to the Primate, asking to be allowed to stay in Russia to care for his elderly mother.
Consequently, the previous patriarchal decree dated June 3 of this year—which designated the parishes in the cities of Santa Rosa and Campina das Missões (Brazil) as Metropolitan Hilarion’s place of residence—has been temporarily suspended. Until further notice, the Metropolitan’s place of residence and ministry has been designated as the Stavropegial Convent of the Exaltation of the Cross in Jerusalem, where the hierarch will be provided with the necessary support.
