In Nigeria, three Christians were killed by Islamist militants over the course of a week

In central Nigeria, in Plateau State, a new outbreak of violence against Christian communities has been reported, resulting in the deaths of three believers in a single week. The attacks are being carried out by radical Fulani militants, according to Christian Daily International.

The series of tragic events began on August 4 in the village of Kuk, where armed men broke into the home of a Protestant pastor. His son was killed during the attack, but local residents managed to repel the assailants. On August 5, in the village of Lukfai, militants killed another Christian on his way home. Another crime occurred on August 9: in the village of Fann, a man was shot and killed as he was heading to a church service with a Bible in his hands.

In addition to the killings, human rights activists are documenting other crimes against believers. Specifically, on August 3, in the neighboring state of Nasarawa, a female student at the medical school affiliated with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ was abducted. Local communities are urging the Nigerian government to ensure safety and bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to the 2026 “World Watch List” report, Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous countries for practicing the Christian faith. Statistics show that between October 2024 and September 2025, 3,490 Christians were killed in the country, accounting for 72% of all such cases worldwide. Experts emphasize that the actions of radical Fulani groups are systematic in nature and aimed at intimidating and eliminating the Christian presence in the region.
