Provocations against the defenders of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra are expected in Kyiv during the court hearing

In Kyiv, representatives of radical organizations are planning to hold a protest targeting believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) who are defending the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The incident is expected to take place on August 26, 2026, near the building of the Northern Economic Court of Appeals, where the monastery’s case will be heard.

According to a report from the Telegram channel “ ‘First Cossack’,” calls for OCU supporters to gather at the courthouse on Sholudenko Street are being spread by controversial figures known for their anti-church rhetoric. In particular, David Pshenychny, who was previously involved in the events surrounding St. Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy, called on his like-minded supporters to influence the outcome of the trial. He was joined by Dmitry Korchinsky, leader of the “Brotherhood” organization, who took to social media to level harsh accusations against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), urging his supporters to put pressure on the judges.

In light of the growing security threat, representatives of the “First Cossack” website are urging UOC believers who intend to come to the courthouse at 3:00 p.m. to support the holy site to exercise the utmost vigilance. ““There is nothing to fear, and you should carefully document all actions by criminals and provocateurs,” the source emphasizes. Earlier, the monastery’s lawyers also issued an official warning about impending provocations. Believers are urged to remain calm, avoid physical confrontations, and not succumb to the manipulations of their opponents.
