Metropolitan Timofey of Vostr was awarded a high honor by the Russian Orthodox Church

Metropolitan Timotheos of Vostr, Exarch of the Holy Sepulcher in Cyprus, was honored with a high ecclesiastical award in celebration of his 75th birthday. The solemn ceremony took place after the Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church in Limassol. This was reported by the Orthodoxia News Agency ( ).

Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR) of the Moscow Patriarchate, and the honoree himself participated in the festive Liturgy. During the service, Metropolitan Anthony read a congratulatory message from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

With the blessing of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Timofey was awarded the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, First Class. The hierarch was honored with this award for his significant contribution to strengthening fraternal ties between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.

In his acceptance speech, Metropolitan Timofey expressed his deep gratitude to Patriarch Kirill, emphasizing the long-standing friendly relations that have bound them since the time when the future Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was rector of the Leningrad Theological Schools, and the honoree was a student. Also present at the celebration was M. M. Zyazikov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus, who personally congratulated His Eminence on his 75th birthday.

It should be noted that celebrations marking the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord took place at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, presided over by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. During the event, Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra, Paxos, and the Diapontia Islands ( ) was awarded a high ecclesiastical honor—the Order of St. Seraphim of Sarov, Second Class.
