A bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church called on the Hungarian authorities to support Ukraine's European integration

The head of the Pastoral and Migration Department of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), Bishop Stepan Sus, met with Zoltán Tarr, Hungary’s Minister of Social Affairs and Culture, during a visit to Budapest. The main topic of discussion was Ukraine’s European integration.

In an interview with , the UGCC representative emphasized that the Ukrainian people have paid a high price for their choice to join Europe. According to the bishop, the current hostilities are a continuation of the struggle for independence, freedom, and democratic values—which form the foundation of the European Union’s ideology—that began as far back as the Revolution of Dignity.

In addition to political issues, the parties touched on the topic of humanitarian aid. Stepan Sus expressed his deep gratitude to the Hungarian government for its assistance in organizing the educational process for Ukrainian children, as well as for creating conditions that allow internally displaced persons to preserve their faith, culture, and native language in cities such as Budapest and Nyíregyháza. Earlier, according to sources, similar issues related to European integration were discussed by a delegation from the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations with members of the European Parliament.
