The AUCCRO and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine Discussed Simplifying the Registration of Religious Organizations

Representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO) held a working meeting with Ukrainian Minister of Justice Denis Maslov, during which the parties discussed critical issues regarding the state registration of religious communities amid full-scale military operations. The main topic of discussion was the administrative barriers hindering the normal activities of believers during wartime.

During the talks, which took place at the Ministry of Justice, the participants discussed in detail the difficulties organizations face when preparing legal documents. The military situation often deprives communities of access to archives and government registrars, making standard procedures inaccessible. To address this issue, the parties agreed to systematize the data: information will be collected for each region so that ways to overcome bureaucratic obstacles can be worked out on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, the parties discussed ways to improve the legislative framework. Members of the Council of Churches emphasized the importance of taking into account the specific nature of religious activities when making any changes to legal norms. According to representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO), new laws should not create additional complications but rather provide effective tools for communities to operate legally. An agreement was also reached to deepen cooperation in the penitentiary sector.
