A Muslim organization has expressed concern over the growing influence of Catholicism in France

France is seeing a noticeable resurgence of interest in the Catholic faith, which is causing serious concern among members of the Islamic community. The Muslim advocacy group “Mercy for Humanity” issued a statement expressing concern that the strengthening of Christianity could significantly weaken Islam’s spiritual presence in the region.
Representatives of the organization acknowledged that they are watching the growing popularity of the Catholic Church with alarm, emphasizing that the trend toward the country’s return to its Christian roots is becoming increasingly evident. According to the group’s projections, France may once again become a predominantly Catholic country in the coming decades. The authors of the statement noted with regret that current trends do not favor Islamic influence in Western Europe.
The statement paid particular attention to the high level of organization and determination among Catholics, who, according to Muslim activists, operate more effectively than they do. The organization “Mercy for Humanity” also mentioned the influence of Catholic institutions, which extends far beyond France’s borders, and pledged to take intellectual and financial steps to curb this process within the legal framework.
This rhetoric came against the backdrop of the Pope’s recent visit to France, which generated significant public attention — some 700,000 believers gathered for a Mass in central Paris, which only confirmed the fears of the Islamic community regarding the scale of the Christian revival.
