Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu: The global system is striving to create a “universal religion”

In a recent speech, Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu drew attention to the serious challenges facing Christianity today. The hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church stated that global systems are making deliberate attempts to create a “pan-religion,” thereby undermining the foundations of the traditional faith.

In his Sunday sermon at His Eminence emphasized that Christianity today is under systematic pressure. According to the metropolitan, the ultimate goal of such processes is to eliminate faith in Jesus Christ and plunge humanity into an illusory reality. Metropolitan Nektarios also expressed concern that modern individual freedom is increasingly being sacrificed to technological development and total electronic surveillance.

Despite material abundance and technological progress, the hierarch notes a deep spiritual dissatisfaction among people. He emphasized that people, surrounded by lies and darkness, continue to experience an acute thirst for truth and the real presence of God—a thirst that worldly goods cannot satisfy.
