TRC officers detained a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Zaporizhzhia

Staff members of the Regional Recruitment Center (TRC) detained Archpriest Vyacheslav Goncharenko, rector of the Vladimir Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Volnyansk. Contact with the priest was lost immediately after he managed to inform his relatives of his detention while en route to the Zaporizhzhia Diocese.

At present, Father Vyacheslav is being held at the Zaporizhzhia TRC building, where he was taken to undergo a military medical examination. According to the priest’s relatives, law enforcement officials are obstructing the work of his lawyers by denying them access to the detainee to provide legal representation.

It is worth noting that the rector leads the parish of a church that was severely damaged as a result of shelling in May 2026. The tragedy resulted in numerous injuries among parishioners and the death of the archpriest’s sister.

As a reminder, we previously reported that in Khmelnytskyi, officers of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) detained Archpriest Andriy Osika, a cleric of the Khmelnytskyi Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The incident occurred on the morning of October 7, 2026.
