A delegation from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia in Tbilisi

Metropolitan Sergiy of Ternopil and Kremenets took part in an official meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The event took place as part of a visit by church delegations to Tbilisi, who had arrived for an international symposium marking the 1,700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion of Georgia. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

The delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which visited Georgia at the invitation of the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church and with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, also included Archbishop Job of Shumsk, Archpriest Vasily Voznyuk, and Deacon Maxim Savchuk. At the meeting, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the Churches for their visit and emphasized the significance of their participation in the symposium’s scholarly and spiritual work.

During the discussion, the parties paid special attention to the role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in safeguarding the spiritual values of the state and also discussed the long-standing ministry of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia. The current Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III, also took part in the meeting.
