Metropolitan Mitrofan of Horlivka and Slovyansk participated in the withdrawal of people from Azovstal

On May 1, 2022, another group of civilians left the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. As reported the day before, the first group of people was evacuated on April 30, when 21 people came out. In just two days, 101 civilians left the Azovstal plant.
Vladimir Legoyda, head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media of the Russian Orthodox Church, reported on his Telegram channel, that Metropolitan Mitrofan of Horlivka and Slovyansk was involved in organizing the exit of civilians. He was one of the first to meet those who left. “Many of them were afraid to leave the plant, but the presence of the metropolitan helped overcome this fear: when they saw the priest, people decided to evacuate,” the message says.
