Alexey Danilov: We are not fighting the church, we are making decisions against people who threaten national security

Ukraine does not fight the church as a religious institution, but counteracts those who are related to it and threaten national security. This is how Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov commented on the searches of the SSU at the facilities of the UOC in an interview with the Voice of America.

“This is a long-standing process, and taking into account the fact that these are sensitive issues, the SSU should already have one hundred percent evidence that these people are cooperating, are related to this, and there are corresponding criminal proceedings for each participant in this process. Therefore, this process has moved off the dead center,” added the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

Danilov said that, unfortunately, in Ukraine for 30 years they did not pay attention to this problem and «allowed certain people to behave the way they behave.»

“But in due time, especially after February 24, they should have taken the side of our country, completely abandoned everything Russian, if it was there, put an end to this issue. Unfortunately, not everyone did it. And those who have not done this or will not do this will have consequences directly for themselves,” Danilov summed up.
