The OCU requires the UOC to rename churches named after Russian saints

OCU cleric Georgy Kovalenko suggested that the UOC «join the nationwide de-Russification and cleansing of toponymy from Moscow-imperial symbols.» Kovalenko wrote about this on his Facebook page.

The «priest» called on the UOC to rename the churches consecrated in honor of the holy Royal Passion-Bearers, Alexander Nevsky, Matrona of Moscow, Sergius of Radonezh and the icons of the Mother of God of Kazan and the Sovereign to «more evangelical names» in honor of the Lord’s and Mother of God holidays
