The hierarch of the Serbian Church expressed regret over the situation around the Lavra

The bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Nikanor of Banat, expressed «the most sincere regret» in connection with the intention of the Ukrainian authorities to take the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and «turn it into some other object.» The bishop wrote about this in a letter to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, Pravlife writes.

In the message, Bishop Nikanor declared his support for the believers of the UOC and its Primate.

“We pray to the Risen Lord that He preserve the Holy Kiev-Pechersk Lavra with all its inhabitants, headed by the abbot — His Eminence Metropolitan Pavel, with the brethren of the monastery, with the rector of the Kiev Theological Academy, students and seminarians, and this summer of the Lord they will sing in the Holy Lavra of the Kiev-Pechersk «Christ is Risen …», — the letter of the hierarch of the Serbian Church says.
