The Serbian Orthodox Church opposed the state terror against the UOC

The Serbian Orthodox Church published a statement saying that “the decision of the current state leadership of Ukraine to expel Metropolitan Onufry, the monastic brethren and the spiritual academy from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is nothing but a synonym for horrific state terror against the Church, as well as a flagrant violation of fundamental rights, religious freedoms and freedom of conscience in general.
“The behavior of the Ukrainian state leadership indicates that its real, and perhaps final goal is to erase the historical memory and all traces of the original Orthodoxy in Ukraine, in order to change the code and historical identity that the Church painstakingly built and preserved over the centuries, from the holy prince Vladimir to the present day …
We raise our weeping voice against the terrible injustice, against state terror against the Church in Ukraine… We hope that churches and religious communities, as well as institutions and organizations that care about peace, justice and at least some order in the world, will condemn the gross violation religious rights and freedoms in Ukraine,” the statement said.
