The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded a surge in "hate speech" and cases of violence against the UOC

The conclusion recently released by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights following the work of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine recorded a surge in “hate speech” and violence against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC with reference to the press service of the organization.
«In April 2023, the MMPLU documented a surge in ‘hate speech’ and several incidents of violence against members of the UOC,» the report says.
It is also noted that civil servants, bloggers and opinion leaders used discriminatory and inflammatory rhetoric and openly called for violence against the clergy and supporters of the UOC.
“During the reporting period, the government and law enforcement agencies failed to effectively deal with hate speech incidents,” the document says.
