Metropolitan Luke: City Council session was canceled after we read the Akathist to the Intercession of the Mother of God

On June 28, 2023, on the Day of the Constitution of Ukraine, Zaporozhye deputies were scheduled to make unconstitutional decisions that would deprive the UOC temples of the opportunity to use the land to which they have the full right. However, as Metropolitan Luka wrote, the City Council session «was canceled after we read the Akathist to the Protection of the Mother of God.»

According to the bishop, this land was granted to the Zaporozhye diocese in accordance with an agreement that has no retroactive effect.

“Of course, the God-fighters understand that the churches from which they are going to expel us will stand empty and dilapidated without proper care, which they cannot provide. But the Spirit of God breathes wherever it wants. We can pray both at home and on the street, and in the yard and in the field,» the bishop noted.

Metropolitan Luke is sure that «God will be with us everywhere and always, unlike those persecutors who were going to vote for anti-God documents.»

“What will happen next, I don’t know. But if these unfortunate people nevertheless vote for an illegal decision — to deprive us of churches, then let them first publicly renounce their Baptism and Chrismation, the sacraments that were performed over them in our churches, than forever deprive themselves of the possibility of eternal life, and I really feel sorry for them!” — the bishop emphasized.
