On June 28, 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court chose the head of the Ternopil Regional Council, Mikhail Golovko, who promised to expel the monks from the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, a preventive measure in the form of two months’ detention with the possibility of making a bail in the amount of UAH 805,200. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC with reference to the KlymenkoTime Telegram channel.
According to the media, during the trial on the choice of a measure of restraint, Mikhail Golovko said that the case against him for extorting a bribe is a «provocation» for his position against the UOC.
