The prosecutor's office will ask to increase the term of imprisonment of Metropolitan Jonathan to six years

The Vinnytsia regional prosecutor’s office will appeal against the verdict to the head of the Tulchin diocese of the UOC, Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletsky). Konstantin Gozdup, head of the Department for Supervision of Observance of Laws by the Regional Security Authority of the Vinnytsia Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, told the Babel publication about this.

«We asked the court to punish the Yeletskys for six years, the court sentenced them to five years. This year is important for us,» Gozdup said.

The trial in the case of Metropolitan Jonathan lasted two months. The prosecutor is convinced that this is «not fast», because «it’s a simple matter.» The Gozdup also stated that the evidence gathered against the metropolitan was «indisputable.»
