The court dismissed the lawsuit of Zaporizhzhya diocese to cancel the decision to ban the UOC

On September 15, 2023, the press service of the Zaporizhzhya City Council reported that the court upheld the deputies’ decision to sever relations with the UOC.

The Zaporizhzhya diocese filed a lawsuit asking to recognize as unlawful and cancel the city council’s decision of July 12, according to which all utility contracts between the UOC and the city should be terminated.

The Zaporizhzhya City Council also believes that the decision to terminate relations with the UOC «was made in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine,» and therefore objected to the lawsuit in full in court.
