In Mirgorod, the authorities arbitrarily dismantled a UOC church

February 7, 2024 in Mirgorod, Poltava region, local authorities stopped the construction of the Holy Trinity Church of the UOC and arbitrarily dismantled the temporary chapel located at the site of construction. This was reported by the head of the Mirgorod community Sergey Solomakha, reports Suspilne.media.
«First we issued a prescription that this carriage, which they arranged, they removed. Since there was unauthorized construction without documents granting the right to perform construction work. There was no response (from the church representatives — ed.) and the construction was not removed. And here was given the instruction to the communal enterprise to remove this illegal construction», — said Sergei Solomakha.
It should be noted that despite the statements about the allegedly illegal construction of the Holy Trinity Church of the UOC, earlier Serhiy Solomakha said that the Mirgorod City Council issued a permit for construction works. Moreover, the construction process was started back in 2012. Nevertheless, now the city council of Mirgorod motivates its actions by the order on unilateral termination of agreements with local communities of the UOC on the use of land plots, adopted on May 24, 2023.
