The Primate of the Albanian Church called for the convening of the All-Orthodox Council to resolve the Ukrainian church issue

The Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, has called for the convening of the Pan-Orthodox Council to resolve the crisis in world Orthodoxy, which has arisen as a result of the Ukrainian church issue. He wrote this in a message to Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, Romfea.gr reported.

«Our long ecclesiastical experience and theological engagement confirm that retaliatory tactics, however justified they may seem, do not solve problems; on the contrary, prolonging the conflict aggravates the wounds. Since the beginning of the crisis, we have been asking and begging for the convening of an Pan-Orthodox conference to address all the issues that have arisen in Ukraine, in Africa and in the Orthodox Church throughout the world as a whole», — Archbishop Anastasios said.

It is worth noting that the head of the Albanian Church is a consistent supporter of solving the crisis in world Orthodoxy at the general church level. At the same time, Archbishop Anastasios does not accept the pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, carried out by the Ukrainian authorities. In particular, representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople called Archbishop Anastasios a «gatekeeper» of the Russian Orthodox Church, who «will die unrepentant».
