In Volyn region, a deputy demanded to take away the Zimnensky monastery from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

A deputy of the Volyn regional council from the nationalist Svoboda party, Anatoliy Vitiv, has demanded that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church seize the complex of churches and premises of the Zimnyenskiy nunnery from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The MP said this during the session of the Volyn Regional State Administration on March 19, 2024, reports «Volyn.UA».
«If someone wants to do something — he is looking for opportunities. If not — looking for an excuse. Let’s take the example of Zimnensky monastery, which was transferred back in 1990 to the UOC-MP. Since that time, Moscow priests started violating laws there. We know that the law prohibits changing an architectural monument and doing other works on the historical territory. Moscow popes are building a hotel there, digging up the ground, digging up bones in the historical soil. And they did not take any approval for this. Even for the arrival of Patriarch Kirill they have made euro-renovation there. Is it legal? Nevertheless, Volyn OSA extends the lease agreement with the UOC-MP up to 2069», — Vitiv said.
The Deputy believes that during the war the state should not «tolerate» the UOC otherwise, in this case, the essence of the fight against the RF is incomprehensible.
«Why the authorities do not see violations of the law and so loyal to the criminal actions of the branch of the Kremlin in Ukraine? Are we waging a war or tolerating the Moscow patriarchate? When we are told that on equal terms will provide historical buildings for lease to Moscow agents and the Ukrainian Church, what are we waging war for?», — asks the Deputy.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that deputies of the Volyn regional council adopted another appeal to the government demanding to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This time, the Volyn regional state administration said that the bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, should be adopted as a basis and as a whole.
