The governing center of the UOC has been in Kyiv since 1990 - Synod of the UOC

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has drawn attention to the manipulations around the Church related to the possible adoption in the Ukrainian parliament of draft law No. 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The essence of the law is that if passed, the state will be able to ban religious organizations whose centers are located in Russia. The rhetoric of the lobbyists of this law indicates that it is directed specifically against the UOC. This is reported by the official website of the UOC.
«Members of the Synod once again emphasized that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is an autonomous and independent in governance Church of Christ, which pastoral responsibility covers the borders of the Ukrainian state. It was also noted that since 1990, the governing center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is located in Kiev,» the report said.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that an MP from the faction «European Solidarity» Irina Gerashchenko said that the Verkhovna Rada does not want to put to a vote in the second reading of the bill № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In her opinion, the vote is being sabotaged primarily by representatives of the pro-presidential Servant of the People party.
