Metropolitan Luke faces 24-hour house arrest

Metropolitan of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol Luke (Kovalenko) faces a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest. This was announced by the hierarch during a sermon after the Divine Liturgy on Holy Thursday, reports «Pravblog».

«It is this measure of restraint intends to seek an investigator who is conducting the case of Metropolitan Zaporizhzhya», — stated in the message.

In turn, Metropolitan Luke, in his speech addressed to the people noted that they want to judge him for the truth about the pressure on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which he has always tried to bring to the public.

«They want to judge me for the Truth, for speaking the Truth. Not political, nor geopolitical, but our, the Church’s Truth. I could not do otherwise, for that would be a betrayal of God, of the Church, of the canons, and of all of you whom the Lord has handed to me. And for whose souls I will be responsible at the Last Judgment. I am not afraid of the earthly judgment and the accusations that are brought against me. After all, I know their so-called «validity» and «truthfulness», — said Metropolitan.

We will remind, earlier we reported that representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine came with searches to Metropolitan of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol Luke (Kovalenko). Later, the agency said that the measures were carried out as part of a criminal case opened against the hierarch for allegedly «provoking religious hatred».
