The SSU reported on the details of the search of Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhya

The Security Service of Ukraine has reported the details of the search of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church hierarch, Metropolitan Luke (Kovalenko) of Zaporizhzhya and Melitopol. The agency claims that the hierarch “provoked religious hatred.” About it reports the Telegram-channel of the SSU.

“According to the materials of the investigation, the Metropolitan publicly expressed his disdainful attitude to parishioners of other confessions. About this he repeatedly “recalled” while communicating with parishioners and during church liturgies. The cleric also posted provocative messages on his personal Telegram channel, where he insulted the religious feelings of representatives of other confessions. In this way he shook the socio-political situation in the frontline region in favor of the aggressor country. The expertise initiated by the Security Service confirmed the facts of subversive activity of the cleric against the state security of Ukraine», — reported in the agency.

In addition, the SBU added that at this stage the issue of selecting a measure of restraint for Metropolitan Luke is being decided. The article under which the bishop was charged suggests punishment in the form of a fine or restriction of freedom.
