Verkhovna Rada deputies block the rostrum demanding to vote for the ban of the UOC

On May 21, 2024, during the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deputies from the parties “European Solidarity” and “Golos” blocked the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament with a demand to put to a vote the bill № 8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. About it reports Raskolam.net.
It is reported that during the plenary session, the heads of the parliamentary factions “European Solidarity” and “Golos”, accompanied by a member of their parliamentary groups, blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and, chanting “Away with the Moscow priest!”, demanded to put to a vote in the second reading of the bill № 8371, the purpose of which is a complete ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Despite the pressure on the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, the bill was not brought to the session hall, and the working day in the Rada was eventually disrupted.
Earlier we reported that the head of the international human rights company “Amsterdam & Partners LLP” Robert Amsterdam, representing the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, published an article in which he shared information about new amendments to the scandalous bill No. 8371, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to the lawyer, if the law is passed in the second reading, the authorities will be able to ban the UOC believers from even gathering in private homes to perform Divine Services.
