“Entrance is paid, services are not planned": In Chernihiv opened to the public taken away from the UOC Transfiguration Cathedral

June 28, 2024 “opening” in the format of a museum of the ancient Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior of Chernihiv, which was taken away from the Chernihiv diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in October 2023. It is reported that from now on the entrance to the temple will be paid, and to perform services in it is no longer planned. This is told in the story of the regional edition of “Cheline”.

“There is the Savior of Chernihiv and Sophia of Kiev – these are our two unique shrines, equal to each other. Chernihiv is celebrating, because it was able to “cleanse” in the literal and figurative sense of the Spas Chernihivsky and allow him to take up his role, which he plays in the formation of our people. The Savior is a thousand-year symbol, a witness and a direct participant in the formation of our Statehood. And the fact that we declare Ukraine free and independent is a huge role of the Spas Chernihivskyi” – Natalia Rebrova – General Director of the NAIZ ‘Chernihiv Ancient’.

Rebrova added that the museum will work daily and without breaks, and every Ukrainian will be able to come and, for a fee, be “inspired” to stay in the ancient Transfiguration Cathedral.

“Every day without a lunch break Spas Chernihivskyi is waiting for every Ukrainian who can come to familiarize himself, learn a lot about himself, about his people, to be inspired. Now we need strength and enthusiasm to win – the Savior will definitely help us in this,” – summarized Natalia Rebrova.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the Director General of the reserve “Chernihiv Ancient” Natalia Rebrova said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will not be able to return to the temples of Chernihiv taken away from her. The official said that the Chernihiv diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had already asked to hold a service on Trinity, but the church was refused.
