State transfers Holy Cross Church of Kamyanets-Podilsky seized from UOC to OCU

The state transferred the Holy Cross Church, which is an architectural monument of national importance, taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2023, to the OCU. At the same time, on July 6, 2024, local representatives of the OCU and officials of the Kamianets Historical and Architectural Reserve played out a scenario according to which it was the Holy Cross community of the UOC of Kamianets-Podilskyi that allegedly voted to change its confessional affiliation. This was reported by the website ye.ua.
«We have the keys. We have prepared all the necessary documents, made a monetary assessment. We are waiting for the community’s charter to be officially registered and for its representatives to apply to the State Property Fund to conclude a lease agreement with us. The parishioners will probably be mostly the same as those who attended this church. But the community will already be subordinate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,» — said Vasyl Fentsur, director of the Kamianets National Historical and Architectural Reserve.
As reported, on November 20, 2023, the Northwestern Economic Court of Appeal ordered the Holy Cross Religious Community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kamianets-Podilskyi to leave the ancient Holy Cross Church, handing it over to representatives of the Kamianets National Reserve.
