In Volyn, an MP demanded to seal the cathedral of one of the UOC dioceses

On July 16, 2024, during a meeting of the temporary control commission of the Volyn regional council, MP Andriy Bokoch demanded to seal the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also includes the diocesan office and spiritual school of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy demands to sue the diocese for failure to comply with the decision of Volyn OSA on eviction from the occupied premises. This is reported on the Facebook page of the Volyn regional administration.

“I believe it is appropriate to seal the premises, and only after that go to court, because it is a historical monument and the property of the state”, – said the Deputy Andriy Bokoch.

In turn, the head of the temporary commission, Vladimir Bondar, said that at the next meeting of the temporary control commission will invite representatives of law enforcement agencies to jointly build a strategy for the return of religious buildings in the ownership of the state.

We shall remind you that on July 1, 2024 employees of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Ancient Vladimir”, law enforcers and representatives of Volyn Regional State Administration tried to take away from the Vladimir-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the Uspensky Cathedral and the complex of premises where the diocesan administration and the Vladimir-Volyn Theological School are located. The commission formed by the state wanted to inventory the property and demanded that the diocesan leadership sign an act of acceptance and transfer.
