Volyn MP urged to ban the UOC and take away the cathedral from the Volodymyr-Volyn diocese

An MP of Ukraine’s Volyn Region, Ihor Guz, has demanded that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church be banned and the Holy Assumption Cathedral, which is an architectural monument of national importance, be taken away from the Vladimir-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. To such actions the Deputy called from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, reports the edition “Bug”.
“All done to leave the hand of Moscow in the temples and heads of parishioners. This is not a solution! We have no right to wait any longer! We demand to hold a vote and support the ban of the Moscow church in Ukraine,” — said Guz after the failed vote for the ban of the UOC.
In addition, the MP threatened the Vladimir-Volynskyi diocese of the UOC, which is located in the electoral district of Guzya, that if they do not vacate the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Vladimir-Volynskyi, then they will be “thrown out” from there by local residents.
“The Moscow church should know that if it wants to use this technology, there may come a certain moment, I think, in the near future, when the community will gather and throw the Muscals out of the cult building of the Holy Dormition Cathedral. All people should have this position, despite political beliefs and disagreements. It is unacceptable when such a sanctuary remains in the clutches of the country-aggressor!”, — indignant the MP.
We shall remind you that on July 16, 2024, during a meeting of the temporary control commission of the Volyn Regional Council, MP Andriy Bokoch demanded to seal the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, which also includes the diocesan office and spiritual school of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The deputy demands to sue the diocese for failure to fulfill the decision of the Volyn Regional State Administration on eviction from the occupied premises.
