Volyn regional council sues Volodymyr-Volyn diocese of the UOC

The Volyn regional council has filed a lawsuit against the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The subject of the court dispute is the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi city, which also includes the diocesan office and spiritual school of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, from which the local authorities are trying to evict the church. “Volyn regional military administration, at the request of MP Igor Guz and 18 other MPs, on July 29th, finally filed a statement of claim in the Commercial Court of Volyn region to oblige the religious community of the UOC to return and vacate the religious buildings of the Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir. In addition, the police registered information in a single register of possible criminal offenses during the events of July 1”, – stated in the message.

Recall, July 16, 2024, during a meeting of the temporary control Commission of the Volyn regional Council, MP Andriy Bokoch made a demand to seal the complex of premises of the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the city of Vladimir-Volynsky, which also includes the diocesan office and the spiritual school of the Vladimir-Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
