Deputies of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council once again call on the Verkhovna Rada to ban the UOC

Deputies of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council have once again called on the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by adopting the scandalous bill No. 8371. The deputies are convinced that the activities of the UOC in the country pose a danger of destabilizing society and undermining state sovereignty. A statement was published on the website of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council.

«We, the deputies of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, appeal to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the heads of parliamentary factions and groups in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a demand to consider in the second reading and vote for Bill No. 8371 «On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Activities of Religious Organizations in Ukraine»… The ban on the activities of the Moscow Patriarchate is necessary to protect Ukrainian society from external influence and threats it poses,» — the deputies of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council said in their appeal.

Earlier, we reported that public organizations of Ivano-Frankivsk region called on the Verkhovna Rada to adopt law No. 8371 as soon as possible, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Representatives of the organizations sent relevant statements to the Parliament, in which they pointed out that the UOC allegedly «weakens Ukraine from within.»
