Turkish president urges Pope to condemn anti-Christian performance at Paris Olympics opening ceremony

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with the head of the Vatican Pope Francis. The head of the republic called on the Pontiff to condemn the anti-Christian LGBT performance that took place at the opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Erdogan believes that what happened offends Muslims as much as the Christian world. This is reported in the account of the President of Turkey in the social network X.
«President Erdogan said that the immoral spectacles demonstrated at one of the stages of the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris caused outrage and reaction. Saying that religious and moral values have been ridiculed and the honor of humanity trampled under the guise of freedom of expression and tolerance, President Erdogan warned that this offends Muslims as much as the Christian world and that he believes it is necessary to raise a collective voice and take a united stand against such acts. President Erdogan noted that the challenge to religious values and the spread of perverted propaganda during the Olympic Games, which are actually held to unite humanity, serve as a wake-up call against the moral decay to which the world is moving,» — the report said.
Recall, earlier the hierarchs of the Hellenic Orthodox Church criticized the anti-Christian LGBT performance, which occurred at the opening of the «Olympiad-2024» in Paris. The НOC called the incident sacrilege.
