Poroshenko urged Rada to interrupt "vacation" to ban UOC

The head of the European Solidarity party, former Ukrainian President and MP Petro Poroshenko, has demanded that the Verkhovna Rada break its “vacation” early in order to pass the bill No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as soon as possible. Poroshenko labeled the issue as one of the most important for the Ukrainian parliament. The statements of the MP are published by the website of the party “European Solidarity”.
“The first thing we would have to start with, as agreed, is the law on banning the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. It is necessary to give those believers and priests of the UOC-MP the opportunity to either join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine or to return and be called as required by the law, filed on my initiative. The Verkhovna Rada, despite the recess that has been announced, should interrupt its vacation, convene, vote the church, vote the changes to fortification, vote the law on the motivation of military personnel. Vote those legislative initiatives that will strengthen the position of Ukraine”, – said Poroshenko.
We will remind, earlier Petro Poroshenko said that in the Verkhovna Rada collected enough votes to pass the law № 8371, aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
