Bulgarian Patriarch congratulates the Primate of the UOC on the anniversary of enthronement

His Holiness Patriarch Daniel, Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, sent a letter of congratulations to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his enthronement. Patriarch Daniel noted the steadfastness of the Primate of the UOC, which His Beatitude shows during difficult trials for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The congratulations were published on the official website of the Sofia Metropolitanate of the BOC.

“During this ten-year period, you have established yourself as a worthy successor to the great hierarchs and confessors who consecrated the Metropolis of Kyiv. Your modesty, humility, patience, love for monasticism and the monastic way of life, striving for strict observance of the canonical order in the Church, bequeathed to us by the holy fathers, are characteristic features of your difficult service as Primate of the brotherly Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The time of Your primacy coincided with severe trials for the Ukrainian people and its Church. You have resisted and continue, with God’s help, to resist all attempts to introduce schism, preserving the unity, integrity and canonicity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. At the same time, these were years of schism in the Ukrainian society itself, in which you have always shown yourself as a uniter and peacemaker – the evangelical duty of every true shepherd of Christ,” – Patriarch Daniel wrote.

Recall that on August 17, 2024, Patriarch Porfiry, Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, sent a congratulatory message to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the anniversary of his enthronement. His Holiness emphasized that for a decade His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius has been tirelessly caring for the needs of the flock and inspiring the faithful with the word of truth in great suffering and hardship.
