Zelensky sent envoys to the Phanar with a request for the Tomos for the UOC, - journalist

Ukrainian journalist Vitaliy Haidukevich has claimed that Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a delegation to the Patriarchate of Constantinople in order to obtain the Tomos for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The journalist claims that it is the Office of the President of Ukraine that does everything to ensure that the law on the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is adopted with the least losses for the Church itself. About this he told on air of the TV channel “Direct”.
“In fact, around this topic the society has been united for a long time, and the weak link in this topic was precisely the authorities and precisely Bankova. We understand that directly Vladimir Zelensky is the person who sets the tone, the temperature, the speed or lack of speed of certain changes. I would just like to remind that against the background of rather optimistic expectations, which were also mentioned in the direct speech of Volodymyr Zelensky, not so long ago, the official representatives of Ukraine went to Bartholomew with a rather strange request to grant the Russian Church of Ukraine, the so-called Moscow Patriarchate, with the Tomos,” — Gaidukevich said.
The journalist added that the realization of such an idea of the Office of the President is impossible, as there “can be only one Tomos in the country.” Nevertheless, Gaidukevich is sure that it is Zelensky who is the initiator of this process.
“I am silent about the fact that it was absolutely from the legal and religious point of view nonsense and ignorance. Tomos can be only one in the country. But I am sure that the representatives of the government, who officially on behalf of Ukraine went to Constantinople to talk about this topic, went there not that with the knowledge of Vladimir Zelensky, but on behalf of Vladimir Zelensky”, — added the journalist.
We shall remind you that earlier it became known that on August 20-21, a delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople will arrive in Ukraine, the purpose of which is to settle the Ukrainian church crisis. The authors of the publication claim that the visit of the delegation of Ukrainian officials and representatives of the PCU turned out to be a failure for Epifaniy Dumenko, as Patriarch Bartholomew was dissatisfied with his attempts to limit the access of the Patriarchate of Constantinople to Ukraine to start a dialog with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
