The UN will analyze the law banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The United Nations Organization has said that it is following the developments around the Ukrainian government’s anti-church initiatives and expects the full text of the bill No 8371 adopted in the Verkhovna Rada aimed at banning the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was stated by the official representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Elizabeth Trossel, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are aware of the adoption of this law by the Ukrainian Parliament and are in the process of receiving the law and analyzing its provisions,” – the UN representative told.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the head of the international human rights company “Amsterdam & Partners LLP” Robert Amsterdam, representing the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, said that the initiators of the ban of the UOC will be punished deservedly. The lawyer added that he would fight for the rights of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church despite threats from the SSU.
