On August 22, 2024, a regular court hearing on the case of Metropolitan Pavlo, a hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and vicar of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, was held in Kiev. According to the results of the hearing, the court extended the measure of restraint for the hierarch for another two months. About it in a comment to the publication “Ukrinform” said the lawyer of Metropolitan Pavel Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
“Metropolitan Pavel has a measure of restraint – bail with the imposition of certain duties. Yesterday the duties were extended for another two months. The next hearing in the case should be held in September,” – the lawyer informed. Chekman noted that his client is on inpatient treatment in one of the hospitals in Kiev due to a sharp deterioration of his health.
Earlier we reported, that OCU spokesman Yevstratiy Zorya expressed hope that the state will be able to finally resolve the issue of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church monks staying on the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Zoria believes that the monastic community of the UOC has no right to stay on the territory of the monastery.
