OCU hopes that the state will be able to expel UOC monks from Kyiv Cave Monastery

OCU spokesman Yevstratiy Zorya expressed hope that the state will be able to finally resolve the issue of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church monks staying on the territory of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Zoria believes that the monastic community of the UOC has no right to stay on the territory of the monastery. He said this in an interview with Gazeta.ua.
“This needs to be regulated, because they have no legal rights to be there. There is the National Museum of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which has the right to its property complex. The museum has to realize this right. There is the monastic community of the Lavra in the bosom of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which holds services there. Ukrainian prayer is heard in the Lavra, and Metropolitan Epifaniy conducts services. We hope that the state will bring the matter to a logical conclusion and the spirit of the “Russian world” will leave the shrine,” – the OCU representative said.
Earlier, we reported that a curious incident occurred during an interview with the director of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, Maxim Ostapenko, on Radio Kultura. The official was unable or unwilling to answer the question of how many monks of the OCU are located on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
