The head of the Volyn diocese of the PCU told what churches and monasteries will be able to take away from the UOC thanks to the law No. 8371

The odious head of the Volyn Diocese of the OCU, Mikhail Zinkevich, spoke about which churches and monasteries he will be able to take away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Volyn thanks to Law No. 8371 adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. According to Zinkevich, the state will transfer one of the cathedrals and several monasteries, which are architectural monuments, to the ownership of the Volyn Diocese of the OCU. He said this in an interview with the regional publication “Competitor”.
“Many churches and religious buildings have been transferred for permanent use. This is the main form of transfer. According to the new law, this property is returned to the state. And the state will be able to transfer the buildings to an organization that proves that it has no ties to the Russian Orthodox Church,” — says Zinkevich.
Zinkevych noted that among the known religious buildings that can be transferred to the OCU are the Holy Protection Church in Lutsk, the Monastery of the Holy Protection in Chartorysk and the Monastery of the Holy Protection in Zymno. In addition, he noted that there are smaller churches, but he emphasized only those that will be definitely recognizable. According to Zinkevich, the authorities now have the opportunity to demand the eviction of UOC communities from architectural monuments owned by the state.
Earlier, we reported that a volunteer from Lutsk, Serhiy Tymchuk, called for a religious purge of the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region. Tymchuk believes that if the Russian army came to Volyn, the Russian military would massacre “Ukrainian priests” (obviously, referring to representatives of the OCU — ed.). In addition, on August 24, 2024, Tymchuk, together with his accomplice, disrupted the service at the Peter and Paul Monastery of the UOC in the village of Svityaz, Volyn region, where they broke in during the Liturgy and began to harass the believers demanding that they leave the UOC and join the OCU.
