We will remind, on August 24, 2024, on the Independence Day of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky signed Law No. 8371, adopted in the second reading in the Ukrainian Parliament, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In addition, the head of state “distinguished himself” with another attack on the UOC, publicly calling the clergy and believers of the Church “Moscow devils.”
Zelensky held a repeat meeting with the Phanar delegation
On August 28, 2024, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a second meeting with representatives of the delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which arrived in Ukraine to try to establish a dialogue between the country’s Orthodox religious associations. Zelensky thanked the representatives of the Phanar for cooperation and prayer. The head of state said on his Facebook page.
“We are doing everything possible to overcome the challenges that the Church in Ukraine. It is very important for us that there is really also stability and peace in this direction,” — wrote Zelensky.
