In Prykarpattia, a woman was tried for “negative comments” about the PCU on social networks

The Verkhovyna District Court of the Ivano-Frankivsk region has sentenced a woman who allegedly created a “bot” to ridicule and criticize the OCU on Facebook. The court materials state that in 2023, a local resident spread critical comments about the OCU on social networks, as a result of which she was investigated by the SSU, and later a criminal case was opened against her. This is reported by the regional edition of Blitz Info.
It is reported that the court found the woman guilty of inciting religious hatred and punished her with a fine of 4,250 hryvnias. In addition, she has to pay 24,382 hryvnias for forensic examinations. This is stated in the verdict of August 27.
The court recognized one of the woman’s “critical” comments about the OCU on social media as the following: “I cannot watch the OCU barbarians poison and beat our believers. I cannot watch our clergy being tortured, the state banning pilgrimage trips to holy places. I cannot watch fans illegally expel UOC believers from churches.”
