Synaksis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople condemns ROC and supports OCU

The Synaksis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which took place in Istanbul from September 1 to 3, 2024, adopted a number of statements in which, among other things, it criticized the missionary activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Africa and condemned the concept of the “Russian world.” This is reported by orthodoxtimes.com.
It is reported that the Synaksis heard reports on the origin, development and application of the theory of the so-called “Russian world”. The hierarchy clearly condemned this ideology and the transformation of the Church into a secular institution, as well as its use to promote state interests and the ongoing war in Ukraine after the unprovoked invasion of the Russian Federation into a sovereign state.
“In addition, at the end of this session, a letter from Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa was read out, informing about the canonical encroachment of the Moscow Patriarchate on the canonical territory of the Church of Alexandria and the resulting split and scandal among the faithful in Africa. The Synod unanimously condemned these non-canonical actions of the Russian Orthodox Church and expressed its unwavering support for the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Orthodox Church of Ukraine”, – message said.
As reported, on September 3, 2024, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia issued a statement in which it expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The Synod of the OCCLS stated that democratic countries cannot adopt laws aimed at prohibiting the activities of religious organizations.
