Patriarch Bartholomew will celebrate his name day on Imbros with the heads of the Romanian and Bulgarian Churches

Patriarch Bartholomew will celebrate his namesake in 2026 on his native island of Imbros. Patriarch Daniel of Romania and Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria will take part in the celebrations, according to official reports.
According to the Greek Orthodoxia News Agency, the celebration will take place on Friday, June 11, 2026, the feast day of the Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas. The current year is a milestone year for the head of the Phanar, as he celebrates his 35th year on the throne of the Church of Constantinople and his 65th year of general priestly ministry.
Patriarch Bartholomew is expected to arrive on Imbros on the evening of Wednesday, June 9, where he will be welcomed at the island’s port. Metropolitan Kirill of Imbros and Teneda in his address to the faithful emphasized the importance of this historic visit and called on all residents of the island to take part in the festivities, noting that “no one should be absent” on this significant day.
Earlier, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniel apologized to the head of the Phanar for criticizing the establishment of the PCU.
