Head of OCU meets with Odesa mayor

On September 8, 2024, the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, visited Odesa. During the visit, Dumenko met with Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov. The details of the meeting are not reported. The event was covered by the regional publication Kulturometr.
In addition to the meeting with Trukhanov, Dumenko also spoke with the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper, and the heads of regional law enforcement agencies and educational institutions. However, there is virtually no information in the media about the details of the meeting with the mayor of Odesa. Commenting on the event, the Kulturometr publication accused Trukhanov of “lobbying for the interests of the UOC” in the city and region.
Earlier, we reported that the Odesa City Council has not transferred any real estate to the Odesa Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church over the past 5 years. The city council reported this in response to a request from local deputy Oleksandr Slavskyi.
