Vicar of Sviatogorsk Lavra of the UOC faces 5 to 8 years in prison

The hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the vicar of the Holy Assumption Sviatogorsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatogorsk, faces 5 to 8 years in prison if his guilt is established in court. This was told by the head of the press service of the SBU GU in Donetsk and Lugansk regions Galina Prischepa. According to Prischepa, the investigation into the case of the metropolitan is still ongoing. This is reported by the publication “Ukrinform”.
Halyna Prishchepa recalled that the metropolitan was announced about suspicion under part 2 of article 114-2 of the Criminal code (Dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the AFU or other military formations, if it is possible to identify them on the ground, in conditions of martial law or state of emergency); he faces from 5 to 8 years of imprisonment.
“The court sessions are still ongoing. Because if there was a verdict, we would have been informed. Especially since it is a high-profile case,” – said Prischepa.
We will remind, the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church vicar of the Holy Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra Metropolitan Arseny (Yakovenko) was left in the pre-trial detention center until October 13, 2024. The corresponding decision was made by the Slavyansk city district court on August 15.
