“Supported the UOC": Head of Ternopil Regional State Administration turned to the police with a denunciation against the mayor of Pochaev

The head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration, Vyacheslav Nehoda, appealed to law enforcement agencies to check the mayor of Pochayiv, Vasyl Boyko, for his allegiance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Nehoda did not like the fact that Boyko defended the Pochayiv Holy Spirit Skete Monastery of the UOC in the issue of transferring the complex of premises occupied by the monastery to state ownership. This was reported by the regional edition “REALNO”.

“I appealed to law enforcement agencies to give a legal assessment of the activities of the mayor and other officials regarding the decisions they made, including the city council. The head of the Kremenets District Administration has been instructed to strengthen control over the activities of the Pochayiv local authorities,” — said Vyacheslav Nehoda.

As reported, on August 14, 2024, the Economic Court of the Ternopil Region decided to expropriate the complex of premises of the Pochayiv Holy Spirit Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The court ruling states that the monastery’s religious buildings, which are architectural monuments, were transferred to the Holy Spirit Pochayiv Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in violation of procedures.
