Arrested UOJ journalists allowed to leave pre-trial detention center on bail

On November 6, 2024, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv changed the preventive measure for Orthodox journalists Valery Stupnitsky and Andrei Ovcharenko, detained by the SBU in the “UOJ case”. The court determined the amount of bail, which will allow the UOJ journalists to be released. This is reported by the UOJ website.

“On November 6, the Shevchenkovsky Court ruled to change the preventive measure for two UOJ employees, Valery Stupnitsky and Andrei Ovcharenko. Having granted the motion of the defense, the judge allowed the use of an alternative measure of restraint in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 908,000 for Andrei Ovcharenko and UAH 908,400 for Valery Stupnitsky,” — the message says.

Earlier, Archpriest Serhiy Chertylin, a cleric of the Kyiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who was detained earlier by the Security Service of Ukraine as part of the investigation into the employees of the media outlets Union of Orthodox Journalists and First Cossack, was released from the pre-trial detention center on bail.
